Interview with Christian Author, Iryna Combs

Hello and welcome – Iryna Combs! I am so glad to have you with us today.

Tell us a bit about you where are you from and other than writing what else do you enjoy?

Thank you for having me here! I was born and raised in Ukraine. My whole life I spoke both Russian and Ukrainian my primary English became my 3rd language a little before I moved to America with my husband. Besides being an author and share my stories with readers I enjoy designing jewelry with gem-stones and leather. And I am a big health fanatic and independent ambassador with Plexus Worldwide.
I love nature, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with my little family.

How did you start writing? What was your inspiration to create?

My inspiration came from a dream that I saw several months before I decided to write it. It came from a huge concern about my country that was on the verge of war with Russia. The bits and pieces of the dream that I saw, I developed into a story full of twists, turns, and just a great adventure!

What genre do you enjoy reading? What’s your favorite book and why?

That’s interesting, but despite that, I write Fiction, I read non-fiction books most of the time. Bible, self-growth, self-development, and besides the Bible, I don’t think I have a favorite book, but I do have several that I cherish and recommend anyone who likes this type of genre.

Have you ever thought about writing in a different genre? If you could, what genre would you like to dabble in?

Yes, in fact, I am hoping that one day I can write a cookbook. I love cooking and creating new dishes and trying new things. That’s something on my ‘to do’ list in the future.

What has been your most proud moment as an author?

I would have to say there are a few moments I felt proud to be an author. Being recognized on stage and given a medal. Having a book in the top 100 bestselling in its categories. Having a reader love my book and give me an amazing feedback or a review!

Was there ever a time you wanted to pick up your laptop, and then launch it out the window with frustration?

No, never had that desire… yet.

What three tips would you give any aspiring writer?

Write everything your mind creates. Don’t be scared. Step outside your comfort zone.

What are you working on now? What will you release next?

At this point, I am not really working on anything, but it’s normal for me. I don’t write daily; it usually takes me a while to have something I feel worth writing. But maybe one day I can write a sequel for my first novel Black Wings.

So… where can we get your books?

Black Wings

Amazon would be the place to go. My website tells more about the books and links lead straight to Amazon page of each book.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

Although I write fiction, I like having it done as close to real things or theory as possible. I definitely research a lot. Write my new release Pay for My Sin took me several months reading the Bible, and 14 other Revelation based books including the Revelation Study to make sure what I write goes well with the scriptures.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?

I absolutely love reading my book’s reviews. I hardly ever get bad reviews, but if I were to get them, I would let it be as everyone is free to have their own opinion.

What’s your writing schedule like?

I don’t have any schedule. I don’t like feeling pressure to write anything. If I know, I have a deadline or make myself write, nothing good comes out of it. So I let it come to me and gently transfer it to the paper (or Word Document in my case).

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?

Hundreds!!! It has been one of the biggest joys of being an author – connect with like-minded people and share our experiences, ideas to promote our books, etc.

How have your family and friends accepted your career as a writer? Are they supportive?

Yes, I can definitely tell I get a lot so support from my family and friends and local people! I am blessed to have my readers!

Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination?

Most of the time they come from my imagination, but every once in a while I find a character remind me of someone else I know.

What was the inspiration for your latest work of fiction?

The Bible! And the questions it rose!

Where would you like to travel to and why?

I have traveled to most of Europe, Egypt, and the Bahamas. I would love to see more of the United States and other countries. I enjoy traveling just about anywhere!

Which one of your characters is your favorite and why?

Maria from Pay for My Sin and Annabel from Black Wings have to be my favorite character. Well, they both are main heroines, and they both represent a part of me. But I think in a way they are better, so I always learn and grow with them!

What would you like readers to know?

I want my readers to know that they are going to be surprisingly pleased with any or both of my books they read. And I want them to know that I would be honored to connect with them and to hear their feedback about the book. I am open to suggestions and friendship! Thank you for reading!

Iryna says that anyone who purchases a copy of Pay for My Sin and emails her a screenshot of the proof of purchase to ireneangel333@yahoo with their file request (Pdf, Mobi) will get a free copy of her book, Black Wings!
