Luke 12:7(KJV) But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

 waiting on God

There are times in our lives when we are forced to wait for the Lord to give direction, to clear the way, to encourage our souls.  For the most part, we stumble on our merry way as if we know what we are doing or where we are going.  When we can no longer force our will on the events happening around us and to us, we must give our control over to the LORD and just stand still and wait. This is difficult to do and we look for any excuse to continue on the way we have until it is no longer possible to ignore what has befallen us.

This is such a time for our family.  We tend to forget that we edge of the cliffreally do not have any control in our lives.  We fool ourselves with the tangible belief that we do have control over events that befall us and that we can make decisions that will affect the outcome.  The Bible in Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Only when we are backed up to the edge of the precipitous do we realize that we are in trouble and require the help of the LORD to survive this attack.

Then we do a quick about face and say to the LORD, “Sorry, for the mess LORD but would you just wave your magic wand and make everything OK so we can get back to the way we want to live.” Proving that we really haven’t learned anything at all.  As a good, kind and loving father who has only the best in mind for his children, we are left there to contemplate our situation.  We twitch, jiggle back and forth and shift from foot to foot and miss the intended lesson.  Then we start to complain in the form of a prayer that is usually very self-centered.  It usually goes something like this:  “Dear LORD, we are patiently (squirm, twitch, and sigh) waiting on your answer.  How much longer will it be before you give me what I am requesting? Amen”.  So, we wait, wait and wait some more.

Finally, we are wore down to the point we are tired, and just want this to be over.  Then and usually only then are we ready to listen to what the LORD has to say.  We begin to see us, our lives, the way that GOD sees us.  We are covered with the blood of Jesus Christ but we have forgotten what that means to GOD and to us. We are children of the most-high God.  We are to live in a certain manner and respond in a certain manner.  In all things we are to give GOD the glory no matter what we as humans experience.  There are times in our lives that we require reminding of these things.

So, Dear LORD God, we are listening and we thank you for all the events in our lives at this moment.

1 Corinthians 10:31:

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
